Poorvaranga’s well acclaimed Performing Arts Unit and Centre for Excellence were established to promote, preserve and pass on varied traditional arts practices. As a study centre, Poorvaranga offers courses in classical music, dance, traditional sculpture, and traditional painting.

Poorvaranga also hosts introductory programmes, residential workshops, seminars, and cultural experiences to facilitate important conversations around the traditional arts, their practice and preservation.

Poorvaranga also houses Kalakosha – a digital archive geared towards strengthening art related research. Physical artefacts in the form of costumes, jewellery, accessories, props, puppets, masks, photographs and bio-profiles are a large part of the collection.
